If we got something wrong, we would rather hear it from you than not hear it. This page explains how to complain and what we do with it.
Email [email protected] with "Complaint" in the subject line.
Tell us what happened, where (a page address, a date, an email), and what you would like us to do about it. You do not need to be formal, and you do not need to use any particular language.
| Stage | Timescale |
|---|---|
| We acknowledge that we received it | Within 3 working days |
| We investigate and reply substantively | Within 20 working days |
| If it will take longer, we tell you why and when to expect an answer | Before day 20 |
A person reads every complaint. We tell you what we found, whether we agree, and what we are doing. If we were wrong we say so and fix it. If we disagree we explain our reasoning rather than sending a form reply.
Being clear about this saves you time:
We will still read it, and if it points to an employer behaving badly on our network we will act on that part.
Say so in reply and ask for it to be looked at again. It will be reviewed by someone who did not handle it the first time. Where a complaint concerns personal data, you also have the right to take it to the data protection authority in your jurisdiction, and doing so does not require our permission or our involvement.
